When our dear friend retired in 2016, Thrinley wrote the following:
“What’s that old saying? Something about making plans and then life happens? I moved to San Juan Island with the idea that I would pursue my art career here. Instead I ended up taking refuge and running a Tibetan Buddhist retreat center for 21 years!
“Managing Sakya Kachod Choling became a huge part of my spiritual practice and like any truly worthwhile endeavor, it’s been joyful, inspiring, funny, educational, very hard and deeply rewarding.”
Those of us who have been happy recipients of Thrinley’s efforts mourn her passing and give thanks for everything Thrinley contributed to our lives and to the support of Jetsun Kushok’s spiritual activities.
