Dear Dharma friends,

Sakya Kachod Choling is delighted to announce that we are now hosting on Zoom the Green Tara Four-Mandala Practice led by Lama Ngawang Tenzin on Sundays, from 10 AM to about Noon Pacific Time.

All are welcome to attend; no empowerment is required.

Please see below for the Zoom link; no registration is required. For those in the Vancouver area, you may join in person at our sister center, Sakya Tsechen Thubten Ling: 6240 Redfern Crescent, Richmond, BC, V7C 2V7.

The female buddha Tara protects beings from fear, clears obstacles, and bestows success. She embodies the enlightened activities of all buddhas. Her Tibetan name, Drolma, means ‘She who Liberates.’

For this program, we will recite the practice text entitled The Lamp Which Illuminates the Practice of the Four-Mandala Ritual of Tara. The text is in Tibetan with transliteration and an English translation, so students can recite along with Lama Ngawang or follow in English. Although the text won’t be posted on the screen, you may order the text from Sakya Tsechen Thubten Ling if you don’t already have the text:

Practitioners should observe a vegetarian diet on Sunday before the practice session.

Sakya Kachod Choling is run by Sakya Society, a nonprofit organization under the spiritual direction of Her Eminence Sakya Jetsun Chimey Luding Rinpoche. Although our physical retreat center is currently closed and will be relocated in the future, we will continue hosting online programs and retreats.

Venerable Lama Ngawang Tenzin serves as a retreat teacher and adviser for Sakya Kachod Choling and its community of practitioners. He received extensive training in all aspects of Vajrayana ritual and practice at Sakya Dirru Monastery, a branch of the Ngor tradition in Bir, India. He became a monk at age ten and became a lama after 17 years of monastic education and completing multiple retreats. In 2005, he arrived in Australia, where he began serving as a resident lama at Sakya Tharpa Ling and as an assistant to Khenpo Ngawang Dhamchoe. Later, he traveled and assisted Her Eminence Jetsun Kushok Rinpoche with her international programs in Australia, Europe, Malaysia, and Singapore. In 2009, Her Eminence invited Lama Ngawang to Vancouver, Canada. Since then, he has assisted with the activities of Sakya Tsechen Thubten Ling in Vancouver and Sakya Kachod Choling in Friday Harbor, Washington. He regularly leads students in weekly practice sessions (which he has held online for the last two years) and provides personal guidance to students of all backgrounds.
